Main text

Digi Control brings together tasks that normally require many commands, configuration files and unrelated tools.

It is not a generic control panel for arbitrary Linux distributions. Digi Control is an integral part of DigiOS and understands its trusted components, system rules, services, modules and lifecycle.

WEB/Admin

WEB/Admin is the primary visual interface and one of the product’s strongest capabilities.

It gives administrators visibility into overall server health, services and workflows, software packages and updates, available modules, network and firewall state, disks, RAID, memory, network adapters, sensors, system events, incomplete operations, warnings, audit history, recovery options and managed remote servers.

The interface displays only capabilities that are actually available and relevant to the specific machine.

Safe operations

Digi Control follows this model:

current state
→ prepared action
→ risk check
→ preview
→ approval when required
→ execution
→ verification
→ audit record

Confirmation is required for genuine risk, not mechanically for every operation.

Software and modules

Digi Control manages the installation, update, repair and removal of allowed software. Official Digi Control modules are checked for origin, signature, integrity, compatibility and licence.

Ordinary Linux software can be used according to DigiOS policy. The restriction applies to components attempting to load as official Digi Control modules.

Hardware and platform health correlation

Digi Control can correlate kernel and journal events, drivers and devices, service failures, disk and RAID state, ECC memory, NIC errors, PSU, fan and temperature sensors and BMC data from iDRAC, iLO, Redfish or IPMI.

The goal is to distinguish a likely hardware problem from a software, driver or kernel problem.

Remote and central management

Remote administration is disabled by default and enabled through a controlled process.

When Digi Control systems are connected, data and commands pass through Digi Control using secure authenticated channels. Arbitrary direct access to managed services is not exposed, no unrestricted remote shell is provided, only defined operations are permitted, pairing and revocation are audited, and sources are limited to explicitly allowed host addresses.

This model will also provide a secure control and transport layer for future KVM, Storage and other infrastructure products.

The person remains the final authority

Digi Control analyses, proposes and verifies, but does not replace the administrator. A person remains the final authority for critical system, hardware and security decisions.
