The direction includes a storage cluster, PostgreSQL metadata, leader and followers, quorum, fencing, storage pools, controlled attachment, temporary snapshots only for backup and replication, pool-to-pool replication, failover only with a valid replica, quorum and fencing, iSCSI/NFS services, health, capacity and performance monitoring, audit and integration with the virtualisation platform and Digi Control.

The exact production model will be finalised during detailed design.

The planned Storage System is a separate software product and control plane rather than a hidden internal part of the virtualisation platform.
