Digi Control documentation
Component mapping and lifecycle
Stable identity, parent-child relationships, replacement and history.
What it covers
- Device names can change; mapping uses serial, WWN, PCI path, vendor/model and other identifiers.
- Parent-child: controller → physical disk → logical volume → filesystem → mount point.
- Lifecycle states: discovered, active, review, degraded, service, replacement-candidate, replaced, retired.
- The replacement flow links old/new components to a service case and validation.
How to use it
- Open the old component.
- Create/link a service case.
- Record planned replacement.
- Refresh after change.
- Link the new ID.
- Validate/accept.
- Retire the old one.
Important rules
- Do not delete the old component.
- A controller fault can explain many child symptoms.
- A lifecycle change requires reason/evidence.
