Software and transactions — common lifecycle

The shared sequence from backend evaluation to audit/reconciliation.

What it covers

  • Operations: search, install, update, reinstall/repair and remove; the target may be a package name, permitted local RPM or controlled bundle.
  • Lifecycle: evaluate backend → resolve source → verify trust/signature → plan/preview → acquire lock → begin journal → execute → complete journal → registry reconcile → audit.
  • Statuses: preview-completed, completed, blocked, failed and recovered-needs-admin-review.

How to use it

  1. Check the backend.
  2. Find the exact target.
  3. Run Plan.
  4. Execute after review.
  5. Check journal/reconciliation.

Important rules

  • Do not blindly repeat a failed operation.
  • Read error category, affected package, remediation and backend tail.
  • Only one active transaction.
