Incidents, diagnostic cases and service lifecycle

Managing a hardware problem through validation/acceptance.

What it covers

  • An incident is a correlated problem/symptom set; a diagnostic case is managed work with owner, scope, steps, evidence and result.
  • Step results are passed, failed, inconclusive or skipped with a reason.
  • Service lifecycle covers repair, replacement, monitoring and component-service history.
  • Validation/Acceptance records actor, evidence and residual risk.

How to use it

  1. Check the existing incident/case.
  2. Create a case if needed.
  3. Run steps and record results.
  4. Link service/replacement.
  5. Run validation.
  6. Accept or monitor.

Important rules

  • Operational review does not close automatically.
  • A gone symptom without evidence is not resolved.
  • Overdue/inconclusive remains visible.
