Attachments, flags and read state

Attachments

From the message screen, open the attachment list and use Download for a specific file. DES verifies access to the parent message before returning the file.

Before opening it:

• compare the filename and type;
• do not execute content from an unknown sender;
• review the security decision and warnings;
• when uncertain, submit the file for analysis instead of forwarding it freely.

Read/Unread

When you open a message or use Mark read, DES updates the Seen state. IMAP clients use the same state model. Mark the message unread when it must return to the pending-work queue.

Flags

A flag is a visual and operational marker. Use it for follow-up, but do not replace a task with a flag when a deadline and owner are required.
