Spam and Quarantine
The difference between unwanted mail and a held message, approval and deletion.
Spam
Spam is a folder for unwanted or low-trust messages that a user may review. Marking a message as spam helps classification and moves it according to policy.
Quarantine
Quarantine contains messages held by a security or policy decision. They must not automatically be considered safe. Review sender, reason and available evidence before choosing Approve.
Actions
- Approve/Release — releases the message to the permitted folder.
- Delete — removes the held record according to retention rules.
- Move — changes the folder when the operation is allowed.
When to escalate
For suspected malware, phishing or incorrect blocking, do not release messages in bulk. A system administrator should review the Security screen, mail flow trace and audit events before changing policy.
