Personal and team mailboxes
The difference between personal and team mailboxes, creation, quotas and access responsibility.
Personal mailbox
A personal mailbox is linked to a specific user. It contains their folders, messages, identities, rules and personal settings. The owner normally has full rights to it.
Team mailbox
A team mailbox has a business purpose, such as sales@, support@ or claims@. Access is granted to one or more users through sharing or delegation. Do not create one shared password for all team members.
Creation
From the domain detail screen choose Create Mailbox and set:
- address and mailbox type;
- owner or team purpose;
- quota;
- active state;
- initial identity when required.
After creation, verify that the mailbox opens, receives a test message and has the correct permissions. For a team mailbox, explicitly add members and the required read, write, send_as or on_behalf permissions.
